KINGFIELD — Police say a Waterville man was charged with drunken driving Monday night after driving into the rear of a tractor-trailer truck on Lexington Road as it was attempting to turn left to cross a bridge into town.
The driver of the 2001 Jeep, Jeb Mansfield, 33, and his passenger, Christopher Flye, 35, of Waterville were injured and treated at the scene by NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said.
Mansfield, who has a conditional license for prior operating under the influence convictions, was arrested on a charge of OUI, he said.
Cpl. Nate Reid and Deputy Andrew Morgan responded to the report of an accident at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The 2013 Volvo truck, owned by L’Breton Transport of Canada, was driven by Alan Chouinard, 38, of Mont-Laurier, Quebec. There was minor damage to the trailer, Nichols said.
There was also damage to the front of Jeep.
Mansfield was taken to Franklin County jail in Farmington. He posted $200 cash bail Tuesday morning to be released, a corrections officer said.
