AUBURN — Police said two local men were arrested overnight Wednesday and charged with breaking into a home on Reginald Street.
Nicholas Sands, 34, and David Giasson, 38, were each charged with felony burglary and criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, police Deputy Chief Jason Moen said in a news release.
According to police, the homeowner was awakened at 11:58 p.m. Wednesday by noises from the basement and called police. When police arrived, they set up a perimeter around the house and confirmed that the homeowner was locked in a bedroom.
Cpl. Kristopher Bouchard sent K-9 Dutch into the basement, driving two men out and “into the arms of waiting officers,” Moen said.
The homeowner was not injured.
Sands and Giasson are being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $2,500 cash bail each. If convicted, each faces more than 10 years in prison.
Sands also faces charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and sale and use of drug paraphernalia, Moen said.
