The board also reviewed the Fish Street project, in which contractors will attempt to control erosion along the Nezinscot River with the installation of three subsurface bendway weirs on the riverbed, riprap at the toe of the slope and related erosion-control measures along approximately 190 feet of riverbank. Four contractors toured the project area last week. The town is still waiting for a DEP permit, which may involve more suggested work for the contractors to consider.

The Transfer Station traffic pattern was discussed, but no solution was reached. With the addition of single-sort recycling, the bin for recyclables will have to be placed in a convenient spot and monitored. The selectmen mentioned that if any garbage is deposited into the single-sort bin, the whole bin would be spoiled.

In other news, the board reviewed three bids for roadside mowing from Hood, Lucas and Caldwell. Most of the bids did not contain all the necessary information, such as the hourly rate or total cost. The board voted to return the bids and revisit them on August 11 at a special selectmen’s meeting, where the Turner rescue will also be discussed.
