Blueberry Festival at Poland church
POLAND — Poland Community Church, 1212 Maine St., will have its Blueberry Festival from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, rain or shine.
Breakfast with blueberry waffles and blueberry sauce will be served at 8 a.m.
Enjoy cobblers, cakes, ice cream and pies on the church grounds or purchase treats for home or camp.
There also will be a giant yard sale. Donations may be brought to the Food Bank Building between 2 and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Public breakfast at Monmouth church
MONMOUTH — A public summer breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at East Monmouth Methodist Church, Route 135, East Monmouth.
The menu will feature pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, muffins, juice and coffee. Cost is $6 per person, children under 5 free, family $20.
The historic church will be open for viewing.
Wayne library silent auction ends Aug. 9
WAYNE — Cary Memorial Library’s silent auction continues through Saturday, Aug. 9, when bidding ends at noon. With an eclectic variety of hand-crafted and unusual items on display, the enthusiastic bidding usually ends with a lot of hilarity and supports the library’s budget as well.
The auction will take place at the Williams House at 14 Old Winthrop Road, directly across the street from the Cary.
A fun array of buy-it-now items are offered as well.

MEOC workshops on Aug. 13, 27
LEWISTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host free workshops, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults 19 and over at 9 a.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 13 and 27, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way.

Supper Aug. 16 at Pownal church
POWNAL — On Saturday, Aug. 16, the First Parish Congregational Church, 422 Hallowell Road, will host a baked bean and spaghetti supper. There are settings at 5 and 6 p.m.

Annabessacook Lake Assoc. meeting
WINTHROP — The Annabessacook Lake Improvement Association is celebrating its 65th year. The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16. A pancake breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. followed by the business meeting at 9:15 at the Augusta West Kampground (off the Holmes Road).
The program will include the spring ice-out competition, the lake photo contest, a 50/50 raffle and numerous door prizes. New this year is the Maine Audubon Society lead sinker exchange, so bring your tackle boxes and trade in your old fishing weights for new ones.
This year’s speaker is Roberta Hill of the Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program who will be updating the association on the search for milfoil and other invasive plant species in Annabessacook.
The meeting is open to the public.
