It is about time that Gov. LePage and officials at the Department of Health and Human Services followed the federal guidelines requiring work, training or volunteering in order to receive what was formerly known as food stamps.
Years ago, when people came to Ellis Island, N.Y., they didn’t depend on food stamps — they worked. Just as LePage’s family came from Canada — they worked.
I feel sorry for people if flipping burgers isn’t what they want to do, but it is a start.
I am so tired of seeing people hanging around downtown. It looks awful to visitors coming here for the first time. What must they think?
It’s not politics … just common sense.
