ROCKLAND (AP) — It’s time for lobster lovers to get their bibs out.

The 67th annual Maine Lobster Festival kicks off Wednesday in Rockland with five days of festivities that celebrate the state’s signature seafood. The festival event draws about 100,000 visitors who put away more than 20,000 pounds of lobster.

Besides lobster, the festival features a sea goddess coronation, a parade, tours of the Coast Guard tall ship Eagle, cooking contests, carnival rides and a race where contestants run across lobster crates floating in the water.

Also on tap is a musical tribute to Texas blues legend Johnny Winter. Winter, who died at age 70 this month, was supposed to be one of the performers alongside brother Edger Winter at the “Rock ‘n’ Blues” event.
