PARIS — The Paris Police Department, with assistance from the Oxford Police Department and The Oxford County Sheriff’s Department, will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Route 26 in Paris on Saturday, July 26, between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.

The operation is part of the ongoing initiative, “Drive Sober, Maine!” which is funded by a grant from the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety.

The Paris Police Department has been scheduling special roving OUI enforcement details several times a month for the past six months. The operation on Saturday will be a stationary checkpoint.

“Our goal is to increase traffic safety awareness and draw attention to the dangers of drunk driving,” Madden said. “The state of Maine takes traffic highway safety very seriously, and the Paris Police Department continues to support that effort.”
