WAYNE — At 7 p.m. Friday, Aug, 8,  the Cary Memorial Library, 17 Old Winthrop Road, will present an evening of poetry featuring Gwen Heath and Claire Hersom.

Heath is a poet and artist who lives in the Farmington area. She is an advocate for people who live with mental illness and is the current chair person of the Local Farmington Consumer Council. She is also founder of “GO” which stands for “getting out,” a group of peers who support each other in the community.

Hersom lives in Winthrop with her dog and cats. Her emotionally powerful book, “Drowning: A Poetic Memoir,” uses humor, honesty and compassion to explore the world she knew while raising three children on the edge of poverty. She is currently on the board of directors for Maine Equal Justice Partners.
