LIVERMORE FALLS — A total of five Livermore Falls homes and one in Jay have had copper piping cut and ripped out from plumbing systems and furnaces since the first report came in July 5.

Livermore Falls police received a report Monday morning of copper piping stolen from an apartment building on Pleasant Street, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.

The building was being renovated.

So far, houses and apartment buildings on Sewall, Wheeler and Pleasant streets, as well as two on Knapp Street have been hit by thieves. All of the targeted buildings were either unoccupied or undergoing renovations.

A house on Belleview Drive in Jay, which was under renovation, was broken into and had copper piping stolen.

Livermore Falls police are asking if anyone knows anything about the stolen copper to call them at 897-3424. The call will go to the Androscoggin County communications center in Auburn and the Livermore Falls police will be notified.

Jay police are asking the same and request anyone who has information to call 897-6766.
