HARTFORD — Selectmen on Thursday night opened bids on the 1978 International Harvester tractor with attachments and awarded the machinery to McNeil Farm Inc.

There were seven offers, ranging from $403 to $3,500.

David Bowman had the winning bid for the chipper.

The Road Committee reported it had looked at Thompson Lane and Farrand Hill Road and will look at Carey Hill and Labrador roads next. They are also reviewing what roads are dead ends and which have been closed.

The Board of Selectmen had requested Road Commissioner Jeremy Johnson put in writing what was needed on Gurney Hill Road. He refused and gave an oral report, saying some stumps were removed, according to Selectman Lee Holman.

Selectmen will meet with the Ordinance Committee at 7 p.m. July 29 to revise the road standards and the building lot standards.

It was requested that dumpsters be picked up two days a week instead of one in the summer, or supply two dumpsters.

A request from the Planning Board to pay the secretary was tabled.
