Hardy, Wolf, and Downing 6, Austin Associates 5

In a second round playoff matchup, Hardy, Wolf, and Downing continued its magic run from the last seeded team to securing an appearance in the championship game by scoring a run in the top of the sixth to beat Austin Associates 6-5 at the Jamie Benson field in Auburn.

Bobby Tremaine threw four solid innings for HWD and Nick Gagne came in with a runner on third in the fifth inning to stave off a late rally by Austin. Sixth-inning heroics came from Joel Stubbs (4 for 4), who singled in the sixth to start the inning and was sacrificed to second by Tremaine. Stubbs stole third base in a well-executed play by both sides with two outs. Parker Kramarz battled for a hard-earned walk while Nick Gagne singled in Stubbs next to score easily which proved to be the winning run. Austin staged a dangerous rally in the bottom of the sixth, as Hunter Fisher and Brandon Ritchie walked. Gagne secured the final out as runners loomed at the corners.

Repeat hitters for HWD were Stubbs with four hits including a triple, Tremaine with a double and single, Gagne with two singles and Noah Harkins, Gabe Garcia, Wyatt Morse, and Tyler Begin with a single each. Austin’s offense was led by Drew Bennett with two doubles and Jake Arel doubled and tripled. Nick Hartley also doubled and provided solid defense at first base. Simon Hayes secured a crucial out for Austins by making a terrific catch in right field.

Go-Kart racing returned for their second round of racing in the JARR Racing Photography Series. Overall winners included Austin Teras, Chris Dresser, Riley Corbridge, and Ben Burgess.

The Jr. Box Stock class kicked off the day with six karts racing to the green. Ben Burgess captured the first feature ahead of Maddy Herrick and Logan Spencer. Burgess came right back to score the win in Round #2 as he defeated Jeremy Desrochers and Herrick. The Jr. Box Stock Overall top three were Burgess, Herrick and Logan Spencer.

The Sportsman class saw Austin Teras grab both segment wins. In Round 1, he defeated Kayla King and Ethan Brown. In Round 2, Tucker Olsen and King chased Teras to the checkers. The Sportsman Overall went to Teras, King and Olsen.

The Jr. Sportsman saw Everett Allyn win the first feature event ahead of Madison Morse and Riley Corbridge. The second feature went to Riley Corbridge. He finished ahead of Morse and Allyn. There was a three-way tie for the overall, which the tiebreaker went to the higher finisher in the second feature. Corbridge claimed the overall victory over Morse and Allyn.

The Senior. Sportsman division saw Chris Dresser pick up both victories. He defeated Stephen Beattie and Brandon Varney in the first event, and Varney and Brooke Keene in the second go around. Dresser claimed the Overall ahead of Varney and Beattie.
