FARMINGTON — Two Franklin County employees were promoted Tuesday.
Franklin County commissioners voted to promote dispatcher Tom Marble of Wilton to a supervisor at the Franklin County Regional Communications Center. He will fill a seven-month vacancy created by Meagan Gaboury’s resignation.
Marble, who has worked for the county for 14 years, is one of the top dispatchers, center Director Stan Wheeler told commissioners.
Marble has supervisory experience outside of the county job. He will make a fine supervisor and has the respect of all the other dispatchers, Wheeler said.
Marble will work four 10-hour shifts per week.
“It will get me night and weekend supervision,” Wheeler said.
Marble was named the county’s 2013 Dispatcher of the Year in February.
Marble’s pay will be $19.35 an hour. He starts Sunday.
Commissioners also voted to promote corrections transport officer Walter Fails of New Sharon to sergeant at the jail. He will be a night supervisor.
Fails has 17 years of experience, jail manager Maj. Doug Blauvelt said. Ten of those years were with the Texas Department of Corrections and seven with the county.
Fails is also a reserve deputy for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
He is very active in updating the jail’s policies and procedures, Blauvelt said.
“He is going to make a fantastic supervisor,” he said.
His wage will be $19.51 an hour.
Commissioners also gave Blauvelt permission to advertise in-house for a new transport officer. The jail has had two long-term employees retire this year, he said.
“I think we have some highly qualified people coming up here,” he said.
