Eighty four people were removed from Lewiston’s General Assistance rolls for 120 days last year, a move announced by Mayor Bob Macdonald.

In a Sun Journal article (July 6), former mayor Larry Gilbert Sr. called that “just a big bluff,” and “empty political rhetoric.”

During his time in office, how many welfare recipients did Gilbert remove from the city’s General Assistance rolls?
