Carnival, Vintage Base Ball & Bike Rally join the Moxie Festival

Three new entertainment venues will join the Moxie Festival this year: a four-day Carnival, a Vintage Baseball triple-header on Saturday evening; and a 30- or 50-mile Bike Rally on Saturday morning.

The Kavanaugh Amusement Carnival will open Thursday, July 10, at Don’s Automotive, Capital Avenue just off of Rt. 196. It will continue through Sunday, with rides, games, food and other activities for all ages.

Thursday, 5:30-10 p.m. closing: Enjoy Moxie Festival special pricing of a $16 bracelet for unlimited rides; individual tickets sold also.

Friday, 5:30-11 p.m. closing.No bracelets needed, tickets only.

Saturday, noon-11 p.m. closing. No bracelets needed, tickets only.

Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. closing: Enjoy Moxie Festival special pricing of a $16 bracelet for unlimited rides; individual tickets sold also.

There will be 10-12 rides along with various games and food vendors. Family-owned and operated for 35 years, Kavanaugh Amusements offers games that are family-friendly.

On Saturday, July 12, the Moxie Day 30- and 50-mile Bike Rally begins at 8:30 a.m. rain or shine at Crafts Car on Route 196 and ends at the Railroad Diner in Lisbon Falls. The first 50 registratants will receive commemorative mugs ($25 preregistration and $30 day of race).

Bring a lawn chair on Saturday, July 12, to watch Maine’s Vintage Base Ball teams play a free double-header at Goddard Field at Lisbon High School. Vintage Base Ball is about reliving America’s favorite past time as it was played during its formative years in the nineteenth century and other historic eras.

Vintage Base Ball teams across the country play in accordance with the rules, equipment, uniforms, field specifications, customs, practices, language, and behavioral norms of the period.

7 p.m. Game 1 – Presumpscot Base Ball Club (Westbrook) vs. Dirigo Base Ball Club (Augusta) (Free)

8 p.m. Game 2 – Rematch with fans (Free)

8 p.m. – Kids Baseball Clinic with the Presumpscot Base Ball Club (Sugg Field) (Free)
