MACHIAS — More than 1,400 Emera Maine customers are without electricity in northern Maine as the utility continues to repair its systems after weekend storms.
Emera Maine said Tuesday that 1,389 of the outages are in Washington County. The rest are in Aroostook and Hancock counties.
A spokesman for the utility says progress has been slow because outages are scattered around northern Maine and system damage is “widespread and severe.” The spokesman says it will be the end of the day before power is restored to everyone.
Customers can report outages by calling 207-973-2020 or 855-363-7211.
