1918 – 2014
SOUTH PARIS — Louise Merrill, 95, of Norway passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, at Market Square Health Care Center.
She was born to Fred and Aurore (Goodreau) LaFrance on Oct. 13, 1918. Louise attended Norway schools. She married Willis Merrill in 1951. Louise lived all of her life in the home she loved on Fair Street in Norway. She was a homemaker most of her life, after a brief time working at the local shoe shop.
Louise had a strong love for dogs and raised four boxers and two poodles. Later in her life, she adopted a stray cat and grew to love him as much as her dogs. For entertainment, Louise loved to go to the grocery store to shop and talk with the clerks and customers she met along the way. Her sense of humor and gift of storytelling was very much appreciated by all who knew her.
Louise is survived by her brother, Albert LaFrance; nephew Albert Jr., both of Williamsburg, Va.; nieces, Marlene LaFrance Wilson, Madeleine LaFrance and Marilyn Koenig of Houston, Texas; grandniece, Melissa Zerber; grandnephews, Marcus Koenig, Brad Koenig and Ben Koenig; a great-grandniece, Abbie Koenig, all of Houston, Texas; a niece, Mary LaFrance of Las Vegas, Nev.; and her good friends, Sharon and Richard Cox of Norway.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill; a brother, Ernest LaFrance; a niece, Michelle LaFrance; and her best friend, Ada Libby.
