1925 – 2014

DIXFIELD — Hazel D. Dill, 89, of Nova Street in Dixfield, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 1, at her residence.

She was born in Southampton, England, on Oct. 25, 1925, a daughter of Sydney B. and Dorothy A. (Marsh) Morant.

Hazel attended schools in England.

She married the love of her life, Robert O. Dill Jr., on April 2, 1945, in England, and moved to this country settling in Dixfield.

She was a member of the Dixfield Congregational Church, and was active in the women’s group. Hazel was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Dixfield American Legion Auxillary. She was an avid bingo player and loved all of her bingo friends.

Hazel will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandmother and sister.

Surviving are her daughter, Elisa A. Knapp and husband, Jeffrey, of Dixfield; her son, Jeff Dill; a brother, Bernard Morant and wife, Marion, of Southampton, England; a sister, Josie Nichols of Southampton, England; a brother in law, John White of England; two grandsons, Trevis Knapp of Rumford, and Colby Knapp of Dixfield; and many nieces and nephews in England.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert O. Dill Jr.; a sister, Sheila White; and a brother-in-law, Fred Nichols.
