1912 – 2014
AUBURN — Marguerite Coombs, 101, mother of Karin Turner, passed away Monday, June 30.
Marguerite was born July 8, 1912, in Chicago, Ill., moving to Hayward, Wis., as a child. She and her husband, Donald, moved to Poland in the late 1970s to be with her daughter and son-in-law to help build Brookdale Village. In 1987 Don took ill, and they moved to Taylor Pond in Abuurn to enjoy the view of the pond and wildlife.
Marge loved sewing, knitting and playing with her grandchildren. She was known as Gram, Gigi, and Mom. She is beloved for her positive attitude and “Gramisms” (words of wisdom).
She was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Roy, as well as her son David.
She is survived by her son, Russell Coombs and wife, Jean, of Lawrence, Mich.; daughter, Karin Turner and husband, Bill, of Auburn; grandchildren, Julie Turner and husband, Kenneth, of East Kingston, N.H., as well as Mark Turner and wife, Tracy, of Lewiston; Russell’s children Jill, Christopher, Timothy and Kenneth of Michigan; and David’s children, Renee, Allison and Erin of Illinois; along with her 17 great-grandchildren.
