PARIS — A Rumford man is expected to head to trial next week on charges of gross sexual assault involving a girl under 12 years old.
Alden Ralph Mason Jr., 41, of Pleasant Street is scheduled to appear in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris on July 9. He plead not guilty to three charges of Class A gross sexual assault, each of which carries a maximum 30-year sentence.
According to an indictment, the charges stem from three incidents in October 2012. On Oct. 26 in Greenwood, Mason allegedly engaged in a unspecified sexual act with a children younger than 12-years old, and twice the following day.
Mason is out of prison on a $5,000 unsecured bond. As conditions of his release, he is not permitted to have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.
In 1997 Mason was convicted in Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland of gross sexual assault with a minor under the age of 14. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, with all but two years suspended.
