FARMINGTON — Police said a local man was charged Monday with sexually assaulting a person Sunday evening on Pleasant Street.
Jonathan Dumont, 29, of 121 Pleasant St., was charged with three Class A counts of gross sexual assault, Farmington police Sgt. Edward Hastings IV said in a news release.
Each charge is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
Hastings, the lead investigator, said police received a complaint about an incident that occurred early Sunday evening on Pleasant Street.
“The victim did not know Dumont,” he said. “However, Dumont had been to the victim’s residence one time prior to the incident. On Sunday, Dumont went to the victim’s residence to help repair the door, which is when the assault occurred.”
Dumont is being held at the Franklin County Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bail, Hastings said. Dumont is expected to make an initial court appearance Wednesday and has a court date scheduled Aug. 5.
