FARMINGTON — Police said a local man had a blood-alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit when he was stopped Friday on Town Farm Road.
Charles Craig, 27, was pulled over at approximately 1 p.m. by Farmington officer Ryan Rosie and charged with driving 27 miles over the speed limit, Farmington police Chief Jack Peck said.
Rosie found Craig had a suspended license and a prior charge of driving under the influence. He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and taken to Franklin County Detention Center, Peck said.
An Intoxilyzer test showed Craig’s blood alcohol level was .30 percent, which is nearly four times more than the the legal limit of .08 percent.
Craig was released on personal recognizance after a court appearance Monday, according to an officer at the detention center. He has a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 27.
Rosie was working a speed enforcement patrol at the time. The department received a $10,000 speed enforcement grant from the Bureau of Highway Safety in January to pay for the patrols, Peck said.
