FARMINGTON — Franklin County Budget Committee members voted unanimously Thursday to add $13,947 to the $5.6 million budget for a restitution specialist, Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer Vickie Braley said Friday.

The money is for the county’s 25 percent share of a restitution specialist who serves the prosecutorial district of Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties.

The specialist works out of the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office and collects restitution that is owed to people. The person has several other duties, including collecting supervision fees ordered by the court.

Franklin County commissioners approved adding the money for the specialist on Tuesday.

The Franklin County Budget Advisory Committee rejected adding the $13,947 on June 18 because the request came in after commissioners had proposed a budget.

The position was formerly paid for through a federal grant, but the grant was not renewed.

The proposed budget for 2014-15, which includes $1.6 million for the jail, represents a $134,361 increase over this year’s fiscal year budget that ends June 30.
