EAST BOOTHBAY — Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is celebrating its 40th anniversary in East Boothbay.
The marine science institute will welcome Sen. Angus King and other speakers to its campus for the Friday anniversary event. King will provide the keynote speech. Laboratory tours and a reception will follow.
Other speakers will include Henry Bryant Bigelow’s granddaughter Mary Bigelow. The laboratory is named for Henry Bryant Bigelow, a scientist and oceanographer. The nonprofit laboratory’s studies range from microbial oceanography to the dynamics of the worldwide ocean.
The event begins at 2:30 p.m. and is open only to those who have been invited.
