Six-week free lunches for kids

NORWAY — The Progress Center, in conjunction with RSU 16 and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is participating in the six-week Free Summer Lunch Program.

The free lunches are available for all kids, up to the age of 21, beginning Monday, June 23. Lunches will be prepared by RSU 16 and served Monday through Friday from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at The Progress Center, 35 Cottage St.

No sign-up is required.

Oxford Historical Society meeting

OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society will hold the June meeting at 6 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the Kay House Museum, Route 121. The program for the meeting hasn’t been announced.

The Society holds monthly meetings April through December, followed by interesting informational programs and a coffee social.

The Kay House Museum is open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3p.m. June through September. There is no fee for this tour, however donations are always appreciated.

The public is always invited. Donations for the July yard sale are now being accepted.

Teen dance June 28 at Legion

OXFORD — A teen dance will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at American Legion Post 112.

Admission is $8 per person. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Food and refreshments will be for sale. TJ the DJ will host.

CPR, first-aid class on June 28

OXFORD — A CPR and first aid class will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Oxford Public Safety Building.

Instruction includes basic first aid, CPR for adults, children and infants, and use of an automated external defibrillator.

On completion of the one-day class, a two-year certification in accordance with the American Heart Association will be given. This certification is accepted for day/child care providers, loggers, guides, teachers and any other non-healthcare related professions.

The next scheduled class will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

Call to confirm the date. Groups may request to schedule a class at their convenience. Healthcare BLS CPR recertifications are done as needed one-on-one.

Ham supper at Alder River Grange

BETHEL — A ham supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the Alder River Grange, 1895 Intervale Road.

Cost is $8 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Patch Mtn. area history program

LOCKE MILLS — A Patch Mountain area history program will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 2 at the Greenwood Town Hall, Route 26.

The event is sponsored by the Greenwood Historical Society.

Bridgton Library spaghetti feast

BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Public Library will hold its annual Spaghetti Feast from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Stevens Brook Elementary School.

The menu includes spaghetti with meat and meatless sauce, fresh, locally-grown greens, bread, coffee, lemonade, sun tea, ice cream and lots of homemade desserts.

Tickets are available at the door and cost $8 for adults, $4 for children 3 to 10. Children under 3 are free. Highchairs are available.

The supper is held just before the Bridgton Community Band concert and fireworks which are also at the Stevens Brook School.

All proceeds benefit the library programs.

Chicken barbecue on July 5

LOCKE MILLS — Jackson-Silver Legion Post 68 and Greenwood Fire Dept. Association will hold a chicken barbecue on Saturday, July 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. It will be held at the Legion Post, 595 Gore Road.

The meal includes half a chicken, beans or potato salad, roll, drink and assorted desserts for $10; under age 12, $5.

Community supper July 5 in Sumner

SUMNER — A community supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Congregational Church of East Sumner, 50 Main St.

There will be casseroles, salad, dessert and raffle items. Donations for the meal are requested.

Patriotic musical at West Paris Baptist

WEST PARIS — A patriotic musical that puts special emphasis on those who have served the country will be presented at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the West Paris Baptist Church on Church Street.

Members of the American Legion will join the choir as well as other members of the community for this presentation of “God Bless the USA.”
