FARMINGTON — The theme for Farmington Rotary Club’s Independence Day parade this year is American Heroes.
With less than two weeks to prepare, the Farmington Rotary Club invites anyone “to decorate a float, a vehicle or to bring a colorful banner and be part of this annual tradition,” according to information released by Sally Dyer, Rotary president-elect.
American heroes can be anyone who is a hero to someone, President Tom Sawyer said Friday. It could be a veteran, a police officer, a firefighter, a doctor or a next-door neighbor, he said.
The parade will begin forming at 9 a.m. Registrations will be taken in the parking lot at Perkins and Quebec streets across from the Fitness Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.
Floats and vehicles line up on Quebec Street to parade across Broadway, down Main Street to cross South Street on to High Street and back to the parking lot.
There is no fee. Ribbons are awarded by categories.
For more information and to register, contact Dyer at 474-5654 or 778-3331, ext. 6605.
Prior registrations are appreciated, but people may just show up and join the parade, Sawyer said.
