For the first time in his American-Canadian Tour career, Jeff White of Winthrop won a road game Saturday night.

He beat the best in the local late model business to do it, also, holding off two-time defending ACT champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. to win the 150-lap event at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H.

It is White’s second win on the circuit and first since 2011, when he showed the way at his longtime home track, Oxford Plains Speedway. White entered the night 16th in the series point standings, and in five previous starts this season, his best finish was eighth in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

White was a force from the drop of the green flag at ¼-mile, high-banked WMMP, charging from the outside of the front row to get around Mike Kenison for the lead.

He held off early challengers Kyle Welch and Travis Fadden. The latter made contact with White and got his car briefly out of shape, allowing Helliwell, who started 11th, to challenge for the top spot.

Helliwell and White and exchanged the official lead four times, but the driver from Dover, N.H., could never pull in front by more than a fender. White led at the line on every lap except for 59, 128 and 129, and he protected for the lead for good on the fifth and final restart of the race at lap 142.

Fadden was third, followed by series point leader Joey Polewarczyk Jr. and 17-year-old Emily Packard.

Three other Maine drivers finished in the top 15. Travis Stearns of Auburn was 10th, Ben Ashline of Pittston 13th and Rowland Robinson Jr. of Steuben 15th.

White was the sixth different winner in six events this season.

Cicconi claims Oxford ISMA checkers

Lou Cicconi raced to early lead over Mark Sammut, gave it away but regained it in traffic with 11 laps to go en route to the victory in Friday’s Bentley Warren Classic for the International Supermodified Association at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Sammut was second, with Jon McKennedy, Rob Summers and Eric Lewis completing the top five. It was the first appearance at the track since 2010 for ISMA, whose cars have turned the fastest laps in Oxford’s 65-year history.

For the fourth time in five races this season, Oxford’s Pro Late Model division produced a first-time winner in the top division.

Justin Drake, 24, of Burnham controlled the 50-lap event and held off a pair of Oxford champions, Tim Brackett and Shawn Martin, for his initial win. Brackett spun from contention late in the race, and Martin, who raced from 19th starting position to the runner-up spot, couldn’t find the line to get around Drake.

T.J. Brackett recovered from multiple close calls in traffic to finish third and reclaim the division point lead. Scott Moore was fourth and Adam Polvinen fifth.

Lisbon’s Dave Brannon won a championship series race at OPS for the first time since 1996, topping the Street Stock field. Brannon held off a late charge from Richard Spaulding to claim the checkers. Josh Childs, Kyle Hewins and Spencer Morse, all of whom are strong contenders for the division title, completed the top five.

Michael Haynes of Livermore Falls breezed to his second Outlaw Sportsman win of the season over Bryce Mains, Jerry Freve, Troy Jordan and Guy Childs Sr.

Morgan shines in Wiscasset spotlight

Corey Morgan of Lewiston extended his season point lead with a win Saturday night in Wiscasset Speedway’s spotlight race of the week, a 35-lap scramble for its Strictly Street class.

Morgan, whose car was damaged in a heat race collision, made his way from 13th starting position to the lead in nine laps. Richard Spaulding backed up his OPS showing by picking up his second runner-up trophy in as many nights, while Tasha Dyer took home third ahead of Zach and Jonathan Emerson.

Ryan Chadwick won the 20-lap Thunder 4 feature, getting to the stripe in front of Cody Robbins and Waterford teammates Jamie Heath and Bill Grover.

Bryan Lancaster topped the New England Pro 4 Mini Stock main event and Matt Weil prevailed in Mini Trucks. Local drivers Ryan Glover of Mexico and Gerry McKenna of Milton were third in the two races, respectively.

Will Collins led a 17-car Late Model Sportsman field.

King’s hot streak continues

Tyler King of Livermore Falls scored his second consecutive runner-up trophy Saturday night in the NASCAR Pro Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough. The 19-year-old King also has a win to his credit this season.

Charlie Colby won the 50-lap feature. Bill Rodgers took third.

David Vaughn of Naples paced the 30-lap Wildcat feature with Dan Wink and Jason Webster in tow.

Frank Wear held off last-lap challenges from Brandon Barker (second place) and Garrett Hall (third) to gain his second 35-lap Sport Series win.
