AUGUSTA — Maine state police say one person was seriously injured during an accident in the northbound lanes of Interstate-95 north.

State police say a vehicle slammed into the rear of a dump truck as it slowed in traffic. 

The crash will likely continue for much of the afternoon and keep traffic backed up. State police are advising northbound motorists to seek alternate routes to avoid the crash site near the third Augusta exit. 

A Lifeflight helicopter took the crash victim to a hospital in either Lewiston or Bangor.
