WILTON — Two Farmington men and a Wilton juvenile were given summonses on a charge of criminal trespass after police found them inside the partially demolished Forster Manufacturing mill, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Jason Masterson, 39, and Robert Keoskie, 41, both of Farmington, and a 14-year-old boy from Wilton were seen hanging around the outside of the mill at approximately 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Wilcox said. Someone told police they saw the three go into the mill complex, she said.

A Wilton officer found the three searching the interiors of vehicles within the fenced mill area, she said. One told police he wanted to have some things that were just lying around, she said.

The mill, at 516 Depot St., is fenced off with “no trespassing” signs. It was an effort for the officer to try to get in, she said.

The town decided last summer to pursue civil action to have the building declared  dangerous by Maine law and force Wilton Recycling LLC, owned by Adam Mack, to remove all unsafe conditions. They also seek costs for removal of the structure if the company does not complete the work in the time given.

This spring, the Board of Selectmen considered not waiving foreclosure for back taxes as they have done other years. They faced the decision of either waiving foreclosure and continuing the process through the courts with potentially more years of legal fees or foreclosing on the property and taking on the expense of finishing demolition.

Mack avoided foreclosure and retained the property by paying $8,400 in back taxes.

Demolition of the former Forster Mill began in 2011, but was halted when high levels of asbestos were found. Some remediation work was completed in 2012, but Mack has since been unable to provide financing to finish the demolition project and restore the property.
