RUMFORD — Lindsay Marston scattered three hits in seven innings and drew ample run support, as Mountain Valley overpowered Sacopee Valley, 12-0, in a Western Class C Prelim tilt Tuesday.

Sydney Petrie and Aly Carlton led the Falcons (12-5) with two hits and three RBIS apiece. Karissa Murphy also contributed with two hits and two RBIS, while Shannon Laubauskas plated one run on four hits.

Mountain Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second frame before erupting for eight runs in the sixth.

Fryeburg 4, Lake Region 2

NAPLES — Sydney Charles’ sacrifice fly in the fifth inning sent Amanda Gillette across the plate and helped No. 10 seed Fryeburg post a 4-2 win over No. 7 Lake Region in Western Class B Prelim contest Tuesday.

The Raiders (8-9) plated an insurance run when Mackenzie Buzzell scored on an infield ground ball out by Makaela Cooper.

Fryeburg took a 1-0 lead in the first as Charles doubled and later scored on an outfield error by the Lakers (9-8). Lake Region rallied with two runs in the third frame on a two-out, two-run single by Samantha Marucci.

An error, a passed ball and an infield out enabled the Raiders to tie the contest in the fourth inning. The Lakers stranded seven runners in scoring position as they out-hit the Raiders 9-4.
