LEWISTON — Samuel Chamberlain will face Republican Ronald Chicoine in November for Androscoggin County’s 2nd District seat on the expanding County Commission.
Vote results Tuesday night were Chamberlain, 333; Walter Hill, 196.
Hill, 45, has served on a variety of local boards, including the Planning Board and the school board. Chamberlain, 20, works at the Maine People’s Alliance and serves as an AmeriCorps volunteer.
Though four other seats on the County Commission are up for election, the District 2 race was the only Androscoggin County contest in Tuesday’s primary.
The other party candidates were all unopposed. The race will be different in November.
District 1 comprises a downtown piece of Lewiston, which includes lower Lisbon Street, Little Canada and the Main Street corridor. Candidates for the seat include incumbent Elaine Makas, a Democrat, and Republican Michael Marcotte.
In District 3, which includes the southern section of Lewiston, Durham and Greene, Republican Matthew Roy of Lewiston will face Joshua Klein-Golden, a Democrat from Durham.
In District 5, which covers downtown Auburn, Democrat Mary Roussel will face Republican Gard Deletesky. And in District 7, which includes Minot, Turner, Livermore, Livermore Falls and Leeds, Republican Sally Christner of Turner will face Democrat Maurice Castonguay of Livermore Falls.
Three candidates for sheriff also will be on the November ballot: Democrat Eric Samson of Auburn, Republican Timothy Lajoie of Lewiston and independent Raymond Lafrance of Poland.
