Service topic, ‘Make Lemonade’

PARIS — The June 8 worship service at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street will be led by Renee Wales. The title of the 10 a.m. sermon is “Make Lemonade.”

Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow the worship service and all are welcome. Childcare is available and The First Universalist Church is wheelchair accessible.

Joint services are announced

RUMFORD — The Rumford United Methodist Church will hold a joint service at 10 a..m. Sunday, June 8, at the Rumford Center Methodist Church.

Special music will be provided by soloist, Jim Robertson and the Rumford choir, under the direction of Judith Kuhn.

On the following Sunday, June 15, there will be a joint service at the Bethel United Methodist Church at 9 a.m.. The Rumford choir and Robertson will present special music at that service also.

Church will be taking summer break

NORWAY — The Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway, Main Street, will hold a “Mary Magdala” service, led by minister Fayre Stephenson, on Sunday, June 8.

A “Journeys” service will be led by Deborah Crump on June 15 and on June 22 the church annually celebrates and concludes services for the year with “Flower Communion and Religious Education Sunday” led by Stephenson. In this last service before the summer break, the story of the Flower Communion will be told. The congregation is invited to  bring flowers from home. They will also hear from the RE team on what the children learned this year.

The first fall service will be the “Water Service” when members bring water from summer journeys and commingle it as a symbolic way of joining together for a new spiritual year.

Ocean Park Sunday worship service

OCEAN PARK — The Ocean Park Religious Society worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 8, in Porter Hall, Temple Avenue. The second 2014 service of the society, the sermon topic will be “My Beautiful Broken Shell.”

Worship leader will be Barbara Larkin Anderson, past national American Baptist Women president and resident of Arlington, Mass. Music accompanist will be Jonathan Prak, USM piano major and resident of Saco; special music, Elinor Lisa, USM voice major graduate, Choral Arts Society soloist and resident of North Yarmouth.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the legacy of the Ocean Park Association.

Church to hold annual meeting

SUMNER — The West Sumner Universalist Church will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, June 11, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the church. As part of the annual business meeting, members will discuss plans for the summer services beginning in July. All members are encouraged to attend.
