Create jobs before housing.
Again, I ask , is the city of Lewiston in the housing business?
Yes we have lost some older tenements in the inner city, but to replace them with new four-bedroom units attracting more Section 8 tenants who do not work does not make sense.
Bring in jobs for the currently unemployed and if the jobs outnumber the work force then start building these new buildings being proposed.
I was really surprised to hear the Lewiston mayor supporting those new tenements, considering his complaints of layabouts who sit around all day living free off the hard-working blue collar workers.
Let the city put a moratorium on any new subsidised housing until full-time employment can be found for the unemployed.
There is enough subsidised housing throughout the city without adding 29 more apartments.
