Take-A-Chance auction June 6
FRYEBURG — A Take-A-Chance auction will be held Friday, June 6, at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds Agricultural Center.
Viewing will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Auction starts at 6:30.
There will also be a dollar table, 50/50 raffle and food booth.
Proceeds will be used by the Northern New Hampshire Jr. Hereford members to go the the national show in Harrisburg, Pa.

World’s Fair meeting rescheduled
WATERFORD — The meeting for Waterford World’s Fair has been changed to Saturday, June 7, at 2 p.m. It will also be a work day.
Historical Society annual meeting
WATERFORD — The first meeting of the Waterford Historical Society for 2014 will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12. The annual meeting with election of trustees is always held at the Old Town House, next to the Town Beach on Keoka Lake.
The program will be “Lake House Memories” with history, photographs, recipes and recollections of those who have been associated with the venerable inn and restaurant. There will be potluck refreshments.
The Old Town House museum will be open to the public on the Fourth of July from 9 a.m. until noon, along with the Mary Gage Rice Museum in Waterford Flat. The town house will also be open on Mondays this summer from 1 to 3 p.m., beginning with July 7.
Attic treasures and food sale
LOCKE MILLS — An attic treasures and food sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 14, at the Locke Mills Union Church by the Ladies Circle.
Country dance at American Legion
OXFORD — A BYOB country dance will be held Saturday, June 15, at American Legion Post 112, 169 King St.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the dance, hosted by TJ the DJ, will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Admission is $10 per person, $15 per couple.

Mega Yard Sale and Flea Market
OXFORD — The Sons of the American Legion in partnership with The Rock House Teen Center will host the second annual Mega Yard Sale and Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the The Rock House Teen Center, 254 Webber Brook Road.
Admission for the public is $1 for adults; children 12 and under are free.
Spaces are available for rent at $15 for a 16X16 space. To reserve a space send check or money order to Sons #112 c/o Anderson-Staples American Legion, P.O. 712, Oxford, Maine. To be updated check out the Facebook page at Mega Yard Sale Oxford. Last year more than 1500 people came to the event.
There will be a few kids games and a pony ride. Proceeds benefit the Rock House Teen Center and Sons of the American Legion Youth Service Projects.
A silent auction will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and drawing starts at 11:30.

Kitten shower to help shelter
PARIS — A kitten shower will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15, at Responsible Pet Care Shelter & Adoption Center, 9 Swallow Road, off High Street across from Paris Elementary School.
For those in a hurry, donations can be dropped off at the outside express donation station.
There will be kittens to visit and adopt. There also will be door prizes, a raffle and refreshments.
Needs include Purina Kitten Chow, cat toys, baby blankets, one-yard pieces of fleece, canned cat/kitten food, bleach, paper towels, laundry soap and hand sanitizer.
Honey Bee Club’s workshop
PARIS — Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club’s workshop will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the Oxford County Extension Center, 9 Olson Road.
Topics will be splitting hives, hiving swarms, how to care for nucs, adding honey supers and getting ready for honey production.
Weather permitting, the group will be opening the Curtis Whitman hive, so bring veils. The public is welcome.

Finnish folk, kantele peformance
PARIS — A free public premiere American performance of Keiketys, a folk dance club from Kuhmo, Finland, will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Forum.
A’chording to Kantele, a local area kantele group, will also be performing.
Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on June 2 were as follows: first, Patricia and Mike Quinn; second, Mary Trafton and Luke Merry; third, first in B, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; fourth/fifth tie, second/third in B, first/second in C, Cynthia and Bill Clifford with Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.
Winners on June 3 were: first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock, 77; second, Les Buzzell and Tom Goodwin, 76.5; third, Richard Baian and Mike Quinn, 75; fourth, Paul Clement and Rosemarie Goodwin, 74.5; fifth, Paul Sherman and Mike True, 73; first in B & C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; second in B & C, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr.
