SOUTH PORTLAND — One person is dead after a Downeaster train incident one mile south of the Portland station, Amtrak confirms to CBS 13.

Train 648, on its way to Boston, hit the person at 6:55 p.m. Saturday, according to Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods.

At the time of the incident, 68 passengers were on the train, Woods says. No one on the train was hurt.

The train involved is the Amtrak Downeaster, which travels between Brunswick and Boston’s North Station.

As a result of this incident, Train 695, the Downeaster from Boston to Brunswick, has been delayed.

The identity of the person hasn’t been released. Amtrak is investigating.
