I am concerned for the safety of the children, pets and wildlife in my Sunderland Drive neighborhood. There is an in-ground, uncovered pool, filled with dark water, that has sat untended for more than three years. Numerous sections of fence around the pool have collapsed and are lying on the ground. That portion is within six feet of some other properties, and within easy playing distance of at least 10 houses.
The pool has a collapsed old-fashioned cover, and you cannot see six inches into the water. Drowning there would be simple, fast and unseen.
There are children throughout this neighborhood, and as much as we parent our children to not go near that house, some of those children are 2 years old, and all of the children are curious.
It is a massive safety hazard, a huge liability, a lawsuit waiting to happen, and an eyesore.
It is shameful that Auburn officials permit that property to continue in that shape, and have permitted it for more than six months.
Myself and many others in this neighborhood are disappointed in the city of Auburn.
