LEWISTON — A broken 8-inch water main shut down traffic on Old Lisbon Road for five hours Saturday, but Water Department officials said the effect on neighbors was limited.
Crews responded to reports of a broken main at 223 Old Lisbon Road at about 10 a.m. Crews closed the road between Gould and South Lisbon roads while they repaired the main. Kevin Gagne, Lewiston’s deputy director of public works for utilities, said the pipe was repaired and crews had the road back open by 3:30 p.m.
“They used a full-circle clamp to fix it,” Gagne said. “It was not an expensive repair.”
Gagne said he did not think water service was interrupted for many Lewiston customers.
“There might have been some localized residents, but not many,” he said. “That part of Lewiston is served by multiple ends, so it was limited.”
