LIVERMORE FALLS — Livermore Falls History Night & Cruise-In will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, weather permitting, Selectman Kenny Jacques said Tuesday.
The event was canceled last year because of rain.
Jacques is also a member of the Livermore Falls Downtown Betterment Group, which is organizing and sponsoring the event.
Events will take place in the downtown area. Route 17, also known as Main and Depot streets, will not be closed as usual, Jacques told the board. Selectmen voted to give the Downtown Betterment Group a special amusement permit and to waive the $25 fee for the event.
Several trucking companies and truck drivers have been notified of the event, Jacques said.
A section of Water Street near the Bank Building is expected to be closed off so Bailey Brothers Ford can set up the Drive 4UR Community fundraiser.
Town Manager Kristal Flagg said she learned the Bank Building parking lot was being dug up Wednesday. She called the owner of the building to tell him there is a big event going on, she said. The work on the lot was supposed to take three days. She said that it could be gravel for History Night.
Jacques also said he was asked by Susan Gagnon, who will be showing the documentary film “Down by the River’s Edge,” to let people know if they plan to see the film they should arrive before it starts so there are no interruptions.
There will be showings at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the makeshift Dreamland Theater at the Livermore Falls Town Office, he said.
