Dan Poirier, 8, from Saco, turns to his grandmother, Nancy Garnache, left, from Biddeford, as he plays Scrabble with The Biddo-Babes plus Agent Dan, including Pat Rhames, right, and Dan’s great-grandmother, Pauline Garnache, during the Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin’s 16th Annual “Letters for Literacy” Scrabblefest on Sunday at the Hilton Garden Inn Riverwatch in Auburn. The Biddo-Babes plus Agent Dan was the team with possibly the youngest and the oldest members. “We have a lot of multi-generational teams and they often win because they play together a lot,” said Tahlia Chamberlain, executive director at the Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin. A little over $5,000 was raised during the event.
