Theme: Getting Medieval on Cancer
Friday, May 30
5 p.m. Registration
6 p.m. Welcome Ceremony
Dedication to Susan Phillips, who passed away this past year.
Guest Speaker – Laura Smith, who cared for her mother while she underwent breast cancer treatment.
National Anthem, performed by Darlene Mooar
First Lap led by SURVIVORS, featuring a Color Guard from American Legion Roderick Crosby Post 28 in Farmington. We honor those in our community who have fought cancer or are fighting cancer, accompanied by a Caregivers, whom we honor for their commitment to helping care for their loved ones.
Dinner and Survivor Reception – Dinner provided by Franklin Savings Bank. Survivors and caregivers are served first, followed by other participants until the food is gone. The dinner is free to survivors and Relay participants. Others are welcome to join in after the first two groups have been served. Donations are gratefully received to benefit the Relay for Life.
Disco Bull DJ, featuring James Butler, begins spinning the tunes to keep everyone hopping through the all-night event.
Team campsites – Visit the campsites of the various teams to see how they’ve incorporated the medieval team. Many will be selling food or other items to raise money for the Relay for Life.
6-8 p.m. Kid Zone for the younger children in the quiet zone, between the campers and the bathrooms, sponsored by Positively Purple Team.
7 p.m. Family Lap
8 p.m. Game: Treasure Hunt
9 p.m. Lollipop Lap
About 9:30 p.m. Luminaria Ceremony. The candles inside the bags, each representing someone who has survived cancer or is fighting cancer or remembering someone who has passed from cancer, are placed around the track and lighted, accompanied by Bob and Aidan Underwood on bagpipes. The names of those honored are read. The public is invited to join us for this moving ceremony.
11 p.m. Game: Don’t drop the rock
Saturday, May 31
Midnight Game: Follow the instructions
1 a.m. Game: Limbo
2 a.m. Game: Poker Run, sponsored by Positively Purple team.
Food: Grilled cheese and ham and cheese sandwiches and other goodies on sale at the Positively Purple Team site.
Activity: Sponsored by Barclay’s Blazers
3 a.m. Game: Cars, sponsored by the Jarden Plastic Solutions team
4 a.m. Food: Coffee and donuts, sponsored by the Jarden Plastic Solutions team
5 a.m. Game: Hopscotch
5:45 a.m. Closing Ceremony
Throughout the Night:
Individual teams will host games, contests, special laps and offer food treats that have yet to be scheduled. Among the events planned, a treasure hunt, hosted by the Life in a Whole New Lite team. See the posted schedule at the event for details.
