PORTLAND (AP) — A Maine government survey says the average price of heating oil in the state has dropped 2 cents in the past week, to $3.58 per gallon.
The Governor’s Energy Office said Wednesday the average statewide price for a gallon of heating oil ranged from $3.30 to $3.83. It also found the average price of kerosene dropped 2 cents, to $4.06 per gallon. The average propane price is now $3.04, a drop of 10 cents per gallon.
The average heating oil price was highest in southwest Maine at $3.83 per gallon. Propane was most expensive in the central part of the state and kerosene most expensive in the north.
The governor’s office also released a statement urging homeowners to save energy by air sealing their homes or improving home insulation.
