Child Advocacy Day and fundraiser
RUMFORD — The Rumford Eagles will hold a Child Advocacy Day and fundraiser for area youths on Saturday, May 10.
Promoting and instilling quality community values in our youths is something the Eagles stand behind.
Each year the organization holds a Child Advocacy Day contest that requires local Aeries/Auxiliaries to host an event in their community that teaches area youth safety, protection, prevention and other health and welfare activities.
The goal is to bring together community outlets such as police departments, fire departments, schools and the Eagles to help promote safe living.
Also during this event a fundraiser will take place for participating youth groups such as the Rumford Community Center, Mexico Recreation Department, local scouting troops, Mexico Police Explorers, local school wellness teams and youth sports teams.
In 2011, the Rumford Eagles won first place in the contest, winning a $3,000 grant which was divided among the participating youth groups.
