PORTLAND (AP) — Maine’s proposed 2014-15 sea urchin season schedule includes the same number of harvesting days as the previous season.
Zone 1 divers, rakers and trappers would have a choice of fishing 15 days in September and October or in December. Zone 1 draggers would choose between December and January or February and March. Zone 2 divers, rakers and trappers would choose between 38 days in late September through December or December through March. Zone 2 draggers would have 38 days in October through December plus March or December through March.
The state released the proposal Wednesday. The proposed schedule will be the subject of public hearings May 12 at Ellsworth City Hall and May 13 at the Lincoln County Communication Center in Wiscasset.
