BRUNSWICK (AP) — A Maine theater company is suing a New Jersey school district with a complaint that the school damaged costumes loaned for a production of the musical comedy “Spamalot.”

Brunswick-based Maine State Music Theatre is suing the Edison, New Jersey district for $197,000 to replace costumes and cover late fees. The Star Ledger (http://bit.ly/1fhassl ) reported Monday that the company complained of receiving its costumes back in poor condition, with some destroyed. The suit was filed this month in U.S. District Court in Maine.

The Maine group also contends Edison’s former drama director owes them $15,000, and that the Algonquin ARTS Theatre in Manasquan, N.J. used the costumes without permission and owes $15,000.

Edison’s high school staged its performance of “Spamalot” last May.
