CHESTERVILLE — It was a sunny day, but cold. That did not deter seniors from coming to the Chesterville Town Office on March 17 for the free Senior Citizen St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon sponsored by the North Chesterville Extension Homemakers.

They were greeted at the entrance with green beads hanging down from the ceiling and a free ticket for the drawing for the cute leprechaun table centerpieces. The hall was very pretty with a rainbow and pot of gold at the end plus an assortment of shamrocks strategically placed around the room and on the tables.

Every senior also had a handmade stand-up paper shamrock with candy kisses in the loops for them to take home if they wished. There was also a free magazine table that was decorated with a beautiful table runner, special candle and lighted yellow flowers in a green vase.

Everyone enjoyed the music provided by Dona Whittemore and her friends Carlton, Kaheri, Norman Crowley and Theresa Besson as they socialized before the food was served and later while eating.

The food was hot and delicious with ham, cabbage, mashed potatoes, carrots, pickled beets, pickles, veggie pasta, with ice cream and cupcakes for dessert.

It was a great day for a wonderful get together with 63 seniors and 15 volunteer helpers being served. The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers are in partnership with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
