Oxford Historical Society meeting

OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society will hold their first meeting of the year at 6 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the museum on Pleasant Street.

After a short business meeting, Gerry Smith of Harrison will speak about the Narrow Gauge Railroad that once came through Harrison.

Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Bean supper at Hosanna Church

OXFORD — A baked bean supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Hosanna Church, 109 School House Road.

Menu includes cole slaw, hot dogs, brown bread and dessert.

Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for ages 8 and under.

CPR, first aid class on April 26

OXFORD — A CPR and first aid class will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Oxford Public Safety Building.

Instruction includes basic first aid, CPR for adults, children and infants, and use of an automated external defibrillator.

On completion of the one-day class, a two-year certification in accordance with the American Heart Association will be given. This certification is accepted for day/child care providers, loggers, guides, teachers and any other non-healthcare related professions.

The next scheduled class will be on May 17. Call to confirm the date. Groups may request to schedule a class at their convenience. Healthcare BLS CPR recertifications are done as needed one-on-one.

Texas hold’em tournament

HARRISON — A Texas hold’em tournament will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the VFW Hall, 176 Waterford Road.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Refreshments will be available.

Space is limited to 100 players. Entry fee is $105. Proceeds will benefit Oxford Hills Project Graduation.

The event is hosted by the Harrison Lions Club.
