FARMINGTON — An Avon man was indicted Tuesday on a charge of burglarizing a garage in Madrid Township.
A Franklin County grand jury indicted Aaron Barker, 32, on a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief. The burglary is believed to have occurred between Jan. 15 and Jan. 28.
Franklin County sheriff’s Cpl. Nate Reid responded to a report of a garage burglary in January on East Madrid Road, Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. said earlier this month. Two ATVs were taken and ridden around the property. A hose was cut, fuel siphoned and a tire flattened on one ATV and a winch broken on the other, he said.
A two-month investigation and evidence obtained at the scene by Reid eventually led to the arrest of and confession by Barker on April 2, Nichols said.
A conviction on a burglary charge carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
