PORTLAND (AP) — The new ferry that will connect Maine to Nova Scotia is nearing the end of its first journey after traversing thousands of miles of ocean from where it was manufactured in Singapore.
The Nova Star cruise-ferry is anticipated to arrive Tuesday at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, for a welcoming ceremony and tours. The ferry is then scheduled to come to Portland on Thursday.
It left Singapore in late March.
The ferry operators plan to start daily roundtrips between Portland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, on May 15. They started listing one-way ticket prices in late March ranging from $79 to $139 for adults and $39 to $64 children, depending on the season.
The ferry has a capacity of 1,200 passengers and offers options such as fine dining, a casino and a spa.
