SKOWHEGAN (AP) — A Skowhegan man who has spent time in jail for breaking into women’s homes and standing over their beds watching them sleep has been arrested for allegedly doing it again.
Police charged 46-year-old Douglas DeWalt with aggravated criminal trespass for allegedly entering a 48-year-old woman’s home through an unlocked door about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday and standing over her bed. Chief Ted Blais said the woman heard creaking, saw a silhouette, and chased him as she called 911.
Police allege DeWalt had a knife on him when he was arrested a short distance away.
Blais told the Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1sLiDGe ) that DeWalt was released from prison five months ago for convictions on identical charges.
DeWalt is in jail on $5,000 bail and it’s not clear if he has an attorney.
