Dance, karaoke at VFW on April 12

AUBURN — A “Hop Into Spring” dance and karaoke will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at VFW Post 1603 at 588 Minot Ave. Open to the public.

There is no cover charge. There will be live DJ AaronC, ’50s and ’60s music, free finger food, 50/50, door prizes and raffles, including a ham.

Attendees are asked to bring a new children’s book to donate to the Danville Church Saturday Library Program, which is held weekly from 10 a.m. to noon at the church on Danville Road.

Choir to present ‘Crimson Bridge’

AUBURN — The Court Street Baptist Church Choir will present “The Crimson Bridge” at 6 p.m. on Palm Sunday evening, April 13.

“An Easter musical for rejoicing,” it is a graphic description of the miracle of Calvary written by Derrick Johnson, and features narration, several solos and a duet encapsulated in the setting of a modern cantata.

The Rev. Dr. David R. Clark will serve as narrator, with Wandah Clark, Robert Hansen, Douglas Hodgkin, William Longacre and Michael Parker being featured vocalists. Marc Laplante will open the evening of music singing the medley, “Grace.”

The Court Street Baptist Church is at 129 Court St. The concert is free of charge.

Acacia Lodge annual meeting

DURHAM — Acacia Lodge Building Association will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, April 15, at the Durham Lodge Hall, Route 136.

It is an open meeting and all members are invited to attend. This will follow a stated lodge meeting.

Holy Week at Sixth Street Cong.

AUBURN — Sixth Street Congregational Church, 109 Sixth St., has announced plans for Holy Week.

A Maundy Thursday service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17.

A Good Friday service will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on April 18. This is a drop-in service of music, scripture readings and meditation.

On Easter Sunday, April 20, there will be a free Easter breakfast served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Call 207-200-5512 for reservations. Following Easter breakfast there will be an Easter service at 10 a.m. featuring special music by Angela Guillette and Pat McLellan. All are welcome.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on April 7 were as follows: first, Jan and Vern Arey; second, Mary Trafton and Luke Merry; third/fourth tie, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock with Marta Clements and Dick Allen.
