HARRISON – SAD 17 directors unanimously voted Monday night to approve Superintendent Rick Colpitts’ nominations of two elementary school principals and a facilities director.

Daniel Hart, who has served as principal of Telstar Regional High School for the past six years, will replace longtime Guy E. Rowe Elementary School Principal George “Beaux” Sincerbeaux, who is retiring after 40 years as an educator.

The board also unanimously supported the recommendation of former Hebron Station School Principal Tiffany Karnes as the new principal of Oxford Elementary School, replacing Kim Ramharter, who is moving to Alaska.

Directors also appointed assistant facilities director Nelson Baillargeon to succeed Facilities Director and longtime SAD 17 employee David Marshall, who retired in February.

Hart is former principal at Dirigo High School in Dixfield for seven years and student coordinator at the Region 9 School of Applied Technology in Mexico. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/sociology, a master’s degree in counselor education and a certificate of advanced studies, educational leadership.

Karnes has eight years experience as an elementary school principal, including three years at the Hebron Station School. In 2007, she was hired by SAD 17 after serving as assistant principal at Lisbon Community School.

She left the Hebron school in 2010 to take a position in Aroostook County to be nearer her family. She served an agency providing services and resources for individuals and families needing greater economic independence.

Karnes holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Maine.

Ramharter tendered her resignation Jan. 30, effective at the end of the school year. She was hired in 2003 as assistant principal of the Guy E. Rowe Elementary School in Norway. She was later appointed Harrison Elementary School principal and the Waterford Elementary School principal in 2009. The following year she was appointed principal of the Oxford and Otisfield elementary schools.

Sincerbeaux announced in December 2013 that he plans to retire at the end of the school year after 40 years in education. A former teacher, guidance counselor and principal for 24 years, Sincerbeaux has worked in Vermont and in Aroostook County. He has served as principal at the Rowe school for the past 13 years.
